Meet Our 2011 New Members

We are pleased to welcome three new member organizations to Community Shares this year.

Cincinnati Men's Chorus

Cincinnati Men's Chorus Logo

Through the art of music, the Cincinnati Men's Chorus has worked to open hearts and change minds since its founding in 1991. The chorus is comprised of gay and gay-supportive men -- all volunteers. Cincinnati Men's Chorus provides members an opportunity for friendship and fellowship. With all of the organization's activities, it has had a chance to present a positive image of the GLBT community and contribute to the entire community. Cincinnati Men's Chorus produces three concert series annually and offers outreach performances to broaden its reach and support other organizations. Cincinnati Men's Chorus singers are men, but its board and volunteer force include women and men, gay and straight.  Cincinnati Men's Chorus welcome all who share its mission of enriching the cultural landscape of our community. www.cincinnatimenschorus.org

Cincinnati Recreation Foundation

Cincinnati Recreation Foundation Logo

The Cincinnati Recreation Foundation serves Cincinnati families by raising funds to supplement the services offered by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission.  The Foundation supports recreation programs for youth, adults, seniors and individuals challenged with physical and developmental disabilities.  Last year the Foundation provided over 200 need-based recreation center youth scholarships for economically at-risk families.  The Guard Start program trains youth as lifeguards, often leading to their first paid job experience.  The RiverTrek 5-day journey down the Little Miami brings teens from diverse backgrounds together to learn camping, canoeing, leadership and teamwork skills.  Over 700 seniors participate in the annual Senior Olympics.   Over 3,000 specially-challenged individuals are served through inclusive and adaptive recreation programs.  These programs keep kids safe and off the streets, keep seniors active and engaged, keep specially challenged individuals included, and improve the quality of life for all Cincinnatians by promoting an active and health lifestyle.  www.cincinnatirecreationfoundation.org

Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship

Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship logo

Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a recreational and therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with disabilities in the Greater Cincinnati area.  We provide hippotherapy, recreational riding, and ground lessons to individuals with varying types and degrees of disabilities.  In addition to our lesson program, we also offer a community outreach program called "Meet Zeke," featuring our Shetland pony, Zeke, who makes visits to those who cannot come out to CTRH.  Supporting CTRH helps children and adults with disabilities enjoy the physical, psychological, and emotional benefits of equine assisted activities and therapies. www.ctrh-online.org

Community Shares' member organizations identify and address pressing concerns in Greater Cincinnati. They also empower those in need by providing a continuum of support.
